looking for sound proofing material, where to get it and there deciable rating? | |
I am sound proofing a room that is 35 ft. by 40 ft. with an 11 ft. ceiling and the ceiling has to be sound proofed as well. I will be doing this in NY city so I would like the names of distributers there.
Answers:
1Some important things to consider/remember:
What the room is being used for. This will have a significant impact on what TYPE of acoustical treatment you use and how MUCH of it you will need. Obviously a room used for sound recording is going to have much more acoustical treatment than a room being used as a cafeteria/gymnasium.
The other big factor: pre-existing surface material of the the room you're treating. Granite flooring with concrete walls and an exposed metal decking ceiling is going to need to be treated differently than a room that is already drywalled, has wood flooring and a drywall ceiling.
Once you have those details in place, it'll make it easier once you start talking to distributors about what you need.
Try the link below... it has info specific to New York City. I hope it offers you the remaining information (supplier contacts) you need to have a successful installation.
Good luck.
