How to soundproof a garage? | |
If your garage is situated next to your house or it is even build into the house, it is really disturbing when in the mornings everybody is waken up only because somebody has to warm the car up, or the whole house can hear when the car finally reaches home in the evening. Thus, you should make your garage a bit more soundproof to avoid the constant disturbing noise. First of all, make sure that your garage door is sufficient to hold back noise, mainly the door edges as usually there is a gap between the door and the door frame. If there is such a gap, than it is advised to change the door not only because on soundproofing but also as it will decrease the amount of heath that leaves your home due to unnecessary gaps.
Secondly, fill all the gaps in your garage walls with the soundproofing foam. That kind of foam is sold in all the hardware stores, so it is not very hard to find it. If this is still not enough than you could use soundproofing tiles on the walls of the garage and sound absorbing mats on the floor. Both of them are an excellent way how to block unwanted sounds.
